POTUS uses a Mac

advertisement

Now that the campaigning is over, we have the opportunity to reflect on an amazing milestone in American history. Barack Obama is the first...

What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I was going to make a joke that John McCain knows how to use a slide rule and an abacus, and can start a fire with rocks. But I'm not sure that he can. Oh well.

Oh I supported him all this way but now I am outraged. I could almost cry... he-he uses Mac. I defended him against all the terrible claims made against him. I stood by and fought and argued his points and merit. And for what. To elect a Mac user. Well then again his opponent couldn't even use the Internet. So I guess I can forgive him using an overpriced, difficult to upgrade, bad for gaming system. But only this once.

Since we are not far removed from wildly exaggerated assumptions based on vague associations I am quite offended if you wish to imply that GWB's retardation is remotely related to his use of  PC.  And I don't think that John McCain would appreciate the inference, as he can't even use that.---Nevermind, you made your point....DAMN!

I'm off to the Mac store.

If Obama follows the Apple tag line of "it's all about integration" then this could be a very good, very unimportant omen for government policy!

On the other hand, perhaps it is a sign that Obama perfers the simple, fool proof way to the complicated, techno geek path. That being said, it is a huge leap from W's " I don't read the papers" and "rarely use email" Texas rancher, hick mentality.

Mac users aren't smater, they just don't know any better. Macs have about the same amount of crashes, at least in my experience! I used Macs in school for motion graphics and visual fx, and they crashed often. I have 2 PC's a laptop and desktop and they are stable.

        S. Elaine Jones: Will work for gimmicks!

Gimmicks is the key word.. Mac is all about the "gimmicks" ...

Ever notice in the Mac ads against PC they never state how their machines are better? NOPE!! Mac's are just like McCain.. old, out of touch and no real ideas about what to offer! LMAO

Every PC has its place. MAC is a PC. You forget PC stands for personal computer it is not a Microsoft trademark like you might believe.

High points for MAC on usability and nice packaging. MAC would be bigger than PC today if it weren't for the CEO stating quite boldly in the 90s that their new Apple was "All the computer anyone would ever need" It had 2 megs of ram and a Motorola 65550 CPU and a 2400 baud modem. The 65550 chip was far superior to anything Intel or Cyrix could produce at the time.

This is where the slide started. About a year later Windows 95 came out. It was shiny and crash prone, but it was faster, the CPUs got faster. It was about this time Apple got shook up and started again. Unfortunately, they were behind the curve now. PCs stayed ahead right up through Windows XP.

MACs gained support through active education programs. Getting MACs into schools was the best thing they did but it took years to "grow" (literally) these customers. Meanwhile, The evil Microsoft empire cast a shadow over apple.

Today, for the first time in many years MAC is making a comeback. Credit goes to MAC for the improvements they have made in recent years with their Computers. Much of it is also fervor over the other products that have generated a great deal of interest in the superior design and style like the iPod and the iPhone.

But another great boon to the MAC brand is the Windows users running away from Vista, the worst Windows OS ever. If MAC stops planned obsolence by allowing upgrades and developer tools for creating open source software that can be optimized for MAC and PC they could take the lead easily and decisively.

Developers that have to choose a platform to write their program for are always going to maximize their profits by writing to the largest sector first. They also need to bring the price down. It is twice as much as it should be.

However, if they wait, I suspect Windows 7 will put Vista to sleep like XP put ME to sleep and it will be a long uphill battle. Of course, Windows 7 Could be just as bad. In any case, I am stuck with windows as a Software developer without a choice of what the clients demand.

Well, that makes one of us. Did you turn off UAC? In any case, all these systems have their places even Linux.

I'm glad it is working out for you. But as a software developer porting cancer treatment software there are more hoops to jump through to make complex software work in this system than even Server 2003. The assumption that if you open a command prompt you can't possible know what your doing is illogical and makes automation scripts useless.

McCain would have also been the first Mac-using President had he won. Granted, he probably used a Mac because they're easier for a first-time user to learn, and he had to learn to Internet in order to stand any chance at all with younger voters.
